Fulham vs W Brom
Sky Bet Ch’boat
12:30pm Saturday 14th September
The late header of semi Ajayi earned West Brom a point as they drew 1-1 against Fulham.
Marcus Bettinelli’s error allowed afterwards Anthony Knockaert had brightly put his side in front four minutes following the break, Ajayi to head home after 80 minutes in the Sky Bet Championship conflict on Saturday.
It intended though they stay somewhat off the pace of the group leaders, the spoils were shared between two of the promotion favourites.
Fulham also had a couple chances and dominated the first half. It was Tom Cairney who found his own way through but he rattled the bar while later in the half Sam Johnstone was called on to deny Knockaert and Bobby Reid in succession.
West Brom were happy to sit but did carve an opportunity out. Charlie Austin had two half chances to score, the first on 28 minutes that he acrobatically smashed the next seven minutes before the break, on the pub as he headed Matt Phillips’ into the arms of Bettinelli.
It required a piece of magic soon to break the deadlock. Whether he meant it or not is a different thing entirely, however, the winger managed to get the corner with a dinked attempt from the edge of the box that left no opportunity to Johnstone.
West Brom did undermine until he gifted them their equaliser with 10 minutes to proceed, Bettinelli, who was in excellent form all day. His effort to have a corner clear watched him hand the ball right.
Reed is appears to be becoming a quality midfielder at this level, also with spent previous campaigns at Norwich and Blackburn. He helped restrain the game for large swathes of this action at Craven Cottage with his metronomic passing. He’s maintaining Kevin McDonald and stalwarts Stefan Johansen on the bench, as it stands.
Fulham head to Sheffield Wednesday at 3pm Saturday. West Brom are in action at home to Huddersfield on Sunday 22 at 12pm, live on Sky Sports Football.
